Trust Dumps LRG's Vice Chair

The LRG's vice chair Keith Nials has been dumped as chair of the VAHT's Stock Investment Group. Keith has also been brutally thrown out of this group as an ordinary member. After being a member of this group and chair since its inception, the trust has now decided that Keith could no longer be involved because being vice chair of the LRG is a “Conflict of interest.” The LRG will be writing to the chief executive strongly objecting to the way Keith has been treated. Tom Watt, chair of the LRG, said, “I believe this is an attack on the LRG – especially as it has been carried out in a seemingly underhand way, with no elections to the new group.”

Residents' Conference 2008

Once again the VAHT has held a residents' conference without representation from its leaseholders. The LRG committee is aware that there was to be a Leaseholders stand at this year's conference, but to its knowledge official invitations were never received by leaseholders in the run up to the event on 12th July. And 11 people reported receiving invitations, again, after the event. Why? Decision or mistake? The LRG will be asking for someone at the VAHT to take responsibility. As a result it's understood only four leaseholders attended the 2008 conference; all LRG representatives who were asked to attend merely for the purpose of reporting about the conference at the LRG's next meeting. We ask again, does this look like a landlord who wants to work with its leaseholders?

Resident Board Member Elections

Tom Watt, chair of the LRG, has withdrawn his interest in standing in the elections for the vacant post of Leaseholder representative on the residents' board. Christine Campbell will now stand unopposed as your representative for another term. We wish Christine much success.

LRG AGM

A date for your diaries: The LRG will be holding its AGM on 8th January 2009. All officers' posts will be up for election. Nominations for candidates will be requested by the end of October 2008. Should more the one candidate be nominated for any of the vacant positions ballot papers will be sent out by the end of November 2008.
