I was just about to sell my leasehold property and everything was ready to move into our new house on February 19th 2010, but understandably, 2 weeks before completion, my buyer wanted an estimate of what the 2010-11 service charge would be. Because VAHT would not supply our solicitor with an estimate of this charge the whole completion date had to be scrapped. We are now left living out of cardboard boxes and packing crates all because VAHT would not get their act together and give an estimate to our buyer. The house we intend to buy is now vacant as the owners moved out on Feb 19th 2010 but we are left in limbo until VAHT can give an estimate of the service charge so we can then hopefully complete. This small piece of information has had a catastrophic effect as we have had friends who have booked days off to help us and arranged time off work. I can't believe VAHT have held up the sale of our property and this has had a massive knock on effect on us as we will have to book more time off work again to move out and re-arrange all removal fees and times as well as having to live in a place full of cardboard boxes until VAHT get their act together. Of course, we have also had to rearrange that the utilities we use remain connected. Our solicitor has sent a letter complaining about how VAHT have prevented us from moving on our completion date and this is a warning to other leasholders who might need this information in future. Apart from whinge I dont dont know what else we can do but its wrong. Its almost like VAHT are witholding the information to make things difficult. Its very annoying and never had any trouble like this with previous private sector landlords.
